Seat Height/Positioning Tool
This is a Fit Kit tool designed to help you
set the saddle to pedal distance more easily and accurately. The correct measurement
is taken from the center of the pedal spindle to to the top of the saddle
keeping the crank arm in alignment with the seat tube.
You can also use the Seat Height/Positioning Tool™ to easily and accurately duplicate all 3 of the contact points on the bicycle: the pedals, saddle and handlebars. Place the Positioning tool over the back of the saddle and extend out the other end to the handlebars for a reliable measurement that you can check when a rider comes back so see if they have changed the fore-aft position of their saddle, or to duplicate their position on another bicycle.
To find the drop to the handlebars, we find the difference between the saddle height and the ground and the handlebars and the ground. This gives you an easy point of reference when setting the handlebar drop.
 |
Once you measure these 2 heights, take the difference between the 2 numbers (subtract one from the other) to in determine the drop from the saddle to the handlebars. You can easily check this drop or use it to duplicate the rider's position on another bike. |
 |
When setting the saddle height, you can set the Seat Height/Positioning Tool™ to the height you want, give it a snug twist to lock it in position, place the end so that it straddles the spindle on the pedal mechanism, then raise the saddle to meet the dowel on the positioning tool.
|
When taking other measurements, loosen the positioning tool by giving a slight twist so
that it is easy to move in and out as you place it for the measurement you are taking.
When you have the measurement you want, give another twist to lock it in position, then take your reading off the scale.

BONUS TIP:
You can also use the
Seat Height Tool to duplicate the saddle tilt on a bicycle
(see below).
 |
Duplicate Your Saddle Tilt on Another Bicycle
The Seat Height Tool can also be used to measure
and accurately duplicate the tilt of your saddle on any bicycle you ride.
After measuring the saddle to pedal distance, keep
the crank arm in alignment with seat tube and move the Seat Height Tool
forward to the front of the saddle. Record both of these measurements so that
you can transfer them to any other bicycle you ride.
