Starter Fit Kit
We
assembled the Starter Fit Kit for shops that sell mid to low end
bicycles. It is also well suited for stores that need a simple, yet reliable
system to train inexperienced staff.
One amazingly simple tool we now include with every Starter Fit Kit is the Fit Kit Slide Chart™. You can train all of your staff to find the correct frame size, saddle height, and cockpit combination (reach to the handlebars) with our measuring devices and this tool. You will be surprised at the confidence these tools give your staff to provide professional bicycle fitting services to your customers.
There are 2 sides to this slide chart. The first shows them the measurements to take to find the frames size and saddle height. The second shows them the measurments to find the top tube and stem combination or reach to the handlebars. You will be able to train staff quickly and efficiently with this wonderful tool. No need to learn the tables at the beginning. Once they become proficient with the Fit Kit Slide Chart™, they can move on to learn the finer points of bicycle fitting.
The real value of the Starter Fit Kit is that it
can be used as a sales tool to develop a service based relationship with every
customer that comes through your doors. This does not take a lot of time either.
We call it quick because you can take the four basic measurements,
assess the riders physical condition and goals, and then determine a safe,
developmental starting position for that customer based on the fitting tables
in the Starter Fit Manual. Even inexperienced technicians can do this
in as little as ten minutes.

Distance = Top Tube Size + Stem Length
On a slanted top tube, measurement = the distance from the center of
the handlebars to the center of the seat post in a horizontal line. |

This factor is added to the Cockpit Combination
(Young, aggressive riders reach further than older, comfort riders) |
In
another five minutes, you can check your inventory for the style of bike that
will suit your customer's needs, in their price range, and looking for a frame
size that will fit them. Set the saddle height. Measure the reach to the handlebars
and see if you need to change out the stem, then invite them to take a test
ride. From the floor to the door for a test ride in 15 minutes. That is how
you can train your staff.
The key to this whole process begins when you meet your customer.
Take their attention off of the bicycles by inviting them to come to your
fitting area to take some measurements. While you are doing that, ask questions
that will help you assess their experience, goals and physical condition.
If you will train your staff to do this, customers will know that you care.
You will also be able to make a much more accurate recommendation for the
type of bicycle they should be riding.
